Fiji Student Brawl Suva

On February 11, 2025, a brawl erupted along Mead Road in Nabua, a suburb of Suva, Fiji. The altercation involved school students and other youths, causing traffic to halt as more than a dozen individuals clashed on the main road. The incident was captured on video and widely shared on social media.

Initial investigations suggest the brawl stemmed from an earlier altercation between two youths on Sunday, February 9. In response, Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu directed the Divisional Police Commander South, Senior Superintendent of Police Wate Vocevoce, to take immediate action against those involved. He emphasized that such unruly behavior will not be tolerated.

Following the incident, seven individuals were taken in for questioning. Four required medical treatment. The identification process for others involved is ongoing.

The Ministry of Education is also addressing the issue. Minister Aseri Radrodro announced plans to profile students who may pose a threat to the school environment. Decisions will be made to ensure rehabilitated students continue their education, while those deemed detrimental may face possible banning.

Police have increased surveillance in Nabua to prevent further incidents. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to maintain safety and order in the community.
