The Fiji Higher Education Commission (FHEC) has officially appointed Dr. Eci Tekuru Naisele as its new Director. This announcement marks an important step in strengthening the leadership of higher education in the country.
Dr. Naisele brings over 30 years of experience in education. He holds a Bachelor’s and Diploma in Education from the University of the South Pacific, a Master’s in Education from the University of Technology in Sydney, and a PhD from Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi in New Zealand. In 2023, he was honored with the Outstanding Indigenous Research Award for his doctoral work.
Originally from Qoma Island in Tailevu, Dr. Naisele is known for his deep commitment to education and community development. His appointment was welcomed by the Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, who praised his strong background and vision for improving higher education in Fiji.
As the new Director, Dr. Naisele is expected to focus on improving quality, accessibility, and innovation within the country’s higher education system. The FHEC believes his leadership will help shape policies that support learning opportunities for all Fijians and align with national development goals.
With this appointment, the FHEC is entering a new chapter, aiming to uplift the standard and reach of higher education across Fiji.
