Fiji kicked off the match with the first half underway, and it was a tight start with both teams eager to score.
In the second minute, the USA drew first blood with a try by Lucas Lacamp, but the conversion was missed, putting them ahead 5-0.
However, Fiji quickly bounced back. In the fourth minute, Sevuloni Mocenacagi scored a try, which was successfully converted, giving Fiji a 7-5 lead. Just a minute later, Filipe Sauturaga added another converted try, and Fiji extended their lead to 14-5.
By the sixth minute, Joji Nasova scored a third converted try for Fiji, making the score 21-5. The USA tried to respond, and in the seventh minute, David Still scored an unconverted try, bringing the score to 21-10 as both teams headed into the break.
In the second half, with Fiji leading 21-10, the USA kicked off, hoping to make a comeback. But it was Fiji’s Joji Nasova who scored his second converted try of the match in the eighth minute, extending Fiji’s lead to 28-10.The USA fought back with another try in the ninth minute, but the conversion was missed, leaving the score at 28-15 in favor of Fiji.
Fiji kept up the pressure, and in the 11th minute, Iowane Teba scored a try under the posts, and it was converted, putting Fiji up 35-15. Teba added another try in the 14th minute, once again under the posts, and the conversion extended Fiji’s lead to 42-15.
The USA managed a late consolation try through Jack Wendling in the 15th minute, but with the missed conversion, the final score ended with Fiji winning 42-20.
